Honored to be recognized with a Communicator Award of Distinction in 2024 and with a Charlie Award by the Florida Magazine Association in 2023.
Those who live in Horizon West know it’s not just the theme parks, beautiful public spaces, well-kept neighborhoods, or excellent dining that set us apart from other communities. Horizon West thrives because of its buzzing businesses and professionals who make it a community built on meaningful connections. There are many networking groups and events that offer opportunities to meet people and to grow and thrive both personally and professionally.
One such group is the Rotary Club of Horizon West, which is very dear to our hearts. We’ve been active members for several years, and several of our Horizon West Magazine team have come from connections made at Rotary.
Rotarians are people of action who strengthen the community through service programs such as food and hygiene drives for local charities, youth leadership and student mentoring initiatives and by helping to fill gaps in underserved areas. Beyond service, Rotary fosters a strong professional network and encourages collaboration among members, guided by the principle, "Service Above Self."
Among its many charitable activities, each year Rotary of Horizon West hosts a golf tournament that offers local businesses a unique opportunity to shine while making a meaningful contribution to their community and connecting with other like-minded business leaders.
Rotary's regular meetings are held at noon on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at the Stoneybrook Golf Club, with informal social hours on the last Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM. Events and more details can be found on their website and Facebook page.
Horizon West Professionals is a microlocal referral-based networking group that aims to build a positive atmosphere for business professionals to connect, create lasting relationships, and establish solid business alliances across the area. Their goal is to help Horizon West flourish as a place to live, work, and play.
Meetings are held from 7:45 to 9:15 AM on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at the Overlook at Hamlin Clubhouse. They also host Networking Nights throughout the year, offering casual events with refreshments where professionals can expand business prospects and learn more about the community. The Networking Night events are open to all professionals, not just members. More information events is available on their website and Facebook page.
The West Orange Chamber of Commerce provides a wide range of networking opportunities taking place in and around Horizon West. Their popular events—Brewing Up Business, Business After Hours, and the Lead and Feed series—offer attendees the chance to build relationships with fellow Chamber members while enjoying appetizers and beverages. The annual Stina D’Uva Tour de Chamber bicycling event travels through the neighborhoods of Horizon West.
Regular networking groups on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays allow Chamber members to foster connections in smaller settings, though these do require a commitment to attending meetings as well as both giving and receiving referrals. More information on membership and events is available on their website.
Horizon West Happenings recently concluded their Networking Bus Tours of the villages of Horizon West, and will not continue them into 2025 as they focus on new opportunities; however, you can still expect consistent quarterly Horizon West Happenings Networking Nights throughout the year. These evening events, which take places at various venues across the area, deliver high-quality networking with other professionals in the rapidly growing Horizon West community—often over light refreshments and drinks. More information on upcoming events is available on their website.
In Horizon West, the heartbeat of our community lies in the relationships we build and the connections we foster. From the service-driven Rotary Club to the business-focused Horizon West Professionals, there are countless ways to engage and grow both personally and professionally.
