Horizon West Theater Company Brings the ‘80s Back to Life with “Rock of Ages”
With REO Speedwagon’s Bruce Hall and Family On Board, HWTC Cranks Up the Volume

Get ready to tease your hair, grab your air guitar and turn up the volume. Horizon West Theater Company (HWTC) is bringing Broadway energy and a whole lot of rock and roll to the local stage with "Rock of Ages," a high-octane musical set to run May 1 through 4 at Horizon High School.
Set in the neon-lit world of the Sunset Strip at the end of the 1980s, "Rock of Ages" tells the story of big dreams, even bigger personalities and the power of music to bring people together. With a soundtrack packed full of hits from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more, this larger-than-life production promises a night of unforgettable fun right here in our backyard.

HWTC — Grassroots with Glam Rock Grit
“'Rock of Ages' is a full-on love letter to the '80s—big hair, big dreams and even bigger rock ballads,” said Raja Jalernpan, President of Horizon West Theater Company. “But at its core, it’s still about community, passion and people coming together to create something unforgettable. This show is bold, loud and a little wild—in the best way possible—and it’s been amazing to watch our local talent dive into it with so much heart.”
Much like the characters in "Rock of Ages", the founders of HWTC were dreamers driven by passion, creativity and a belief in the magic of live performance.
Horizon West Theater Company began as an idea shared between neighbors—people who believed in the power of theater to build community and enrich lives. Rather than waiting for someone else to create it, they rolled up their sleeves brought it to life themselves!
Since its founding, HWTC has grown into a cornerstone of the Horizon West arts scene, creating opportunities for performers of all ages and backgrounds to express themselves, pursue their passions and connect through creativity. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) community theater, it's run entirely by passionate volunteers and funded by sponsors and donors.

REO Speedwagon’s Bruce Hall Brings Star Power—and Family—to the Stage
This season’s production also received a special boost through a unique partnership with Bruce Hall of REO Speedwagon and his family. From contributing scenic elements and props to sharing behind-the-scenes insights, the Halls played an active role in helping bring the show’s electric energy to life.
Kimmie Sue Hall, Bruce’s wife, even joined the production team as a creative producer, infusing the process with fresh ideas and a spirit of fun.
Their son Timmy is taking the stage as the drummer for Arsenal, adding a personal and exciting layer to the experience.
“I remember in the early 2000s, my band was approached about a new Broadway play revolving around the '80s. We were thrilled to learn that two of our songs would be included,” said Hall. “Fast forward, and now we get to partner with Horizon West Theater Company. How cool to have my son, Timmy, drum for Arsenal! I plan to be at every show and our family can’t wait to watch him—and the fantastic others—rock this May.”

Get Ready to Laugh, Rock and Roll!
At its core, "Rock of Ages" is about more than just music and mayhem. It’s a story of chasing dreams, fighting for what matters and finding joy in the chaos. With outrageous characters, iconic songs and high-energy performances, this show delivers nonstop laughs, nostalgia and a rocking good time.
It’s the perfect excuse to gather with friends and family for a night of entertainment that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The show contains mature content, adult themes and plenty of '80s flair.
Viewer discretion is advised, and a sense of humor is strongly encouraged!
