The Wheel Deal on OCPS School Busses

August 13, 2023

Finding Your Public School Bus & Transportation Contact Info

While bussing has not experienced any major changes, parents and students getting used to OCPS Transportation services may have some concerns or questions including:

Who is eligible for bussing?

Students who live two miles or more or do not have a hazard free walking route to school (or those with other circumstances) are eligible for bussing to/from school by OCPS.

What is my student’s bus route?

If you are new to the area or to OCPS, bus route schedules can be found online and accessed by clicking on the Find-A-Bus link.

What if my bus is later or my student has a problem?

During the first weeks of school as everyone is getting their bearings, busses may run late. When OCPS drivers see that they will be arriving late to pick-up or drop off students, they will notify Dispatch. Transportation Services will send an automated call (Connect Orange) to notify you if your child's bus is running late and provide an estimated time of delay. Making sure your contact information is up to date will help ensure you get the message. If you cannot answer your phone, a voice mail message will be left for you, so remember to check your messages before calling Transportation.

If you need to call OCPS concerning your student's transportation, please call: 407-317-3807 (Call Center) or 407-317-3800 (main line). You may also email 5690@ocps.net.

When contacting Transportation, please have some basic information ready including:

  • Route number - this is different from the bus number and is a 4-digit number which is handwritten in white on the bus windows
  • School your child attends - the school designated symbols and/or colors (Lion bus or Green bus) are used by the schools only; Transportation cannot use them as reference

Embracing these changes, adapting to new realities, and fostering a spirit of resilience and curiosity will help prepare our community’s students for the years to come. We wish all the best to those embarking on a new school year!
