Honored to be recognized with a Communicator Award of Distinction and with a Charlie Award by the Florida Magazine Association.
A group of young boys had the experience of a lifetime when their traveling flag football team traveled to Dallas, Texas to compete in the Annual Flag Football X Tournament at Dallas Cowboy Stadium. And if that wasn't exciting enough, they won the championship title in their division!
The BNA Sports Bengals, a team of eight local players between the ages of six and nine years old, traveled to Texas with their parents and coaches in August. There, they spent two days competing with teams from across the country, and they were ultimately crowned the 8U Champs!
This team is part of the Horizon West NFL FLAG League powered by BNA Sports. NFL FLAG is the official flag football league of the NFL and the largest youth flag football organization in the United States. BNA Sports is a local non-profit 501c(3) sports-based youth development organization with a mission is to develop athletes psychologically, physically, socially, and emotionally on and off the field.
Offense coach and Horizon West dad, Mike Rodriquez said, “We could not be more proud of these boys and all that they've accomplished in just six months of being together as a team. This is now the fourth tournament they've competed in this year — others included NFL Flag Football in Tampa, Miami, and Jacksonville — and they've continued to get better together, learn, and grow as a group. Knowing that their weekly practices, hard work, and determination ultimately led them to winning a championship ring in just their fourth tournament together is special.”
As part of the tournament experience, the young teammates were given a tour of AT&T Stadium, including the Dallas Cowboys players' locker room! This, combined with playing on a real NFL field and bringing home their very own championship rings, was a very special and motivating experience for the young athletes!
Way to go Bengals! Congratulations!
