KLA Schools of Horizon West is Enrolling New Students!

June 5, 2020

Parents and Children in Horizon West Has a New Progressive Preschool Option.

KLA Schools of Horizon West is the first Reggio Emilia inspired preschool in Horizon West, providing parents with an alternative to standard early childhood education programs; one that is both innovative and collaborative. KLA uses the Reggio Emilia approach to encourage children to think critically, creatively and independently as capable and confident individuals.

We interviewed the school's Admissions Team to provide insight into what the Reggio Emilia approach is all about, how KLA is unique and what your child will experience as a KLA student.

Can you introduce us to KLA and tell us what is unique about your preschool?

The mission of KLA Schools of Horizon West is to provide an innovative, progressive preschool curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education through which students are encouraged to think critically, creatively and independently in a safe and nurturing environment.

KLA is unique in how we value each child’s individuality, natural curiosity and creativity. We provide a learning environment that speaks to that curiosity, listens to children’s opinions and ideas, and offers many avenues for children to express themselves. Finding the joy in learning motivates us; our aim is to foster in students a lifelong love of learning.

What kinds of learning opportunities do you offer?

Children truly are the protagonists in their own learning in this approach. We offer real life experiences to our students in an environment that inspires them. These personalized learning experiences promote each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development, as they make sense of the world around them. Teachers support children as they collaborate, explore and communicate their ideas. They ask meaningful questions to encourage deeper thinking, as children research and revise their own theories.

Our school will provide children with personalized learning experiences that promote each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development and form the academic foundation for greater abstract thinking, said KLA Schools of Horizon West. We strive to provide a truly one-of-a-kind educational experience that not only prepares children for success in Kindergarten, but for success in life.

What is the Reggio Emilia approach?

Through the Reggio Emilia approach, children are given the tools and support to navigate through their own distinct paths of discovery. In contrast to more passive curriculums, the Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum encourages children to be active participants in the learning process and to develop the skills needed to explore their ideas, interests, and questions in meaningful ways while inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

The Reggio Emilia approach is an approach where children encounter numerous avenues for thinking, developing and expressing their thoughts and feelings. Children are given the tools and support to navigate through their own distinct paths of discovery in relationship with others and their environment. We support children’s confidence by respecting each child’s processes and opinions, and by celebrating their work.

What can parents and children expect in the KLA environment?

Children are honored in our school and parents are celebrated as our partners in education. We are excited to offer a modern, progressive educational approach and nurturing environment where families feel like they truly belong. Our spaces are inviting, aesthetically pleasing, and speak to children’s curiosity. Our school’s brand new, state-of-the-art campus has innovative features such as an art studio (Atelier), a water exploration laboratory (Water Atelier), and a children’s arboretum. Our unique learning environment is a source of inspiration for children to freely express their creativity with both indoor and outdoor classroom experiences.

What ages does KLA Schools of Horizon West serve?

We serve infants from three months of age through children five years of age. We also offer a before & after school program for school-age children up to twelve years of age.
