Honored to be recognized with a Communicator Award of Distinction and with a Charlie Award by the Florida Magazine Association.
The Beginning
Founded in Anaheim, California, The Pizza Press has been breaking the mold from the very beginning. The brand is inspired by the vibrant culture of the 1920s Americana newspaper era when industrialization and economic prosperity brought artistic change to the people. Times and news were fast-moving, providing the perfect platform for a fast-casual dining experience harkening to the excitement of the time. Newspapers were the foundation that brought communities together, and that sense of community is the cornerstone of service at The Pizza Press.
The Experience
Walking through the doors of The Pizza Press feels like stepping back in time. You are immediately immersed in a thematic presentation of Americana. From the employees’ period appropriate attire to the décor throughout the venue, you are captivated with rich imagery that allows you to experience a unique time in history. The newspaper theme carries through to the menu as well, with the “Publishing” of your own artisan pizza, made from the day’s freshest ingredients. You can also choose one of their signature pizzas named for major American newspapers such as The Times, The Tribune, The Chronicle or The Herald.
To round out the menu, The Pizza Press has a selection of salads, wings and desserts as well as gluten-free and dairy-free options. You can enjoy a classic American favorite: the root beer float or choose from an array of craft beer taps that feature local favorites from nearby breweries, such as Crooked Can and Cigar City Brewing Company.
The Story
Owner, Peter Nyilas, sat down with us to share his story of how his Horizon West location came to be. “I liked the concept from the beginning”, said Peter. “Pizza and beer are a good match and the concept is unique here in Florida.” He wanted to choose a brand that offered fast service, healthier options and was family-friendly. Peter said he loves seeing how satisfied the people are with the atmosphere and experience. Kids love the pizza concept and adults enjoy that there is a beer selection.
The ultimate goal for him was to create a family-friendly environment that had something for everyone. When you have pizza, craft beer and ice cream it would seem that you hit the nail on the head! Couple that with a gorgeous patio overlooking the Hamlin sunsets, seasonal live music and ongoing community events that feature BOGOs, deals and discounts and you have the perfect local pizza joint. When asked why he chose Horizon West, Peter shared, “This area is one of the fastest growing in the nation. An opportunity to bring this business to life was perfect. My family and I also chose Horizon West as our home, so it was an obvious choice!”
