Honored to be recognized with a Communicator Award of Distinction in 2024 and with a Charlie Award by the Florida Magazine Association in 2023.
Eric Jacky, a resident of Orchard Hills in Horizon West, is being honored as one of the recipients of the prestigious 2024 Who’s Who of Horizon West Award. Eric is being recognized for his exceptional contributions to the community through the creation of the the community event known as Horizon West Car Fest.
The Who's Who award celebrates individuals who transform their passions into projects that enrich the lives of others, and Eric’s enthusiasm for cars has certainly done just that. Together with his son Alex, Eric has turned his love for automobiles into a family-friendly event that has become a much-anticipated gathering for the Horizon West community.
Launched in September 2022, the Horizon West Car Fest has rapidly grown into a must-see event for car enthusiasts and casual attendees alike. The October 2023 edition featured over 200 vehicles, from off-road Jeeps to sleek Ferraris and Corvettes, including Eric’s own pride and joy: a 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray in Hypersonic Grey Metallic. The event doesn’t just showcase cars; it’s about fostering connection and creating a sense of belonging among neighbors. Attendees often strike up conversations, swap stories and form new friendships over a shared love of cars.
The Horizon West Car Fest has quickly become a signature event for the community. It provides a laid-back, welcoming environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can bond over their passion for cars. It’s not uncommon to see families walking the rows of cars, kids snapping photos with their dream rides and residents chatting with local car owners about the craftsmanship and history behind the vehicles on display.
Eric’s event has created a platform where community ties are strengthened and new connections are made. The excitement and buzz leading up to each event show just how much this special gathering means to Horizon West.
Through his vision, Eric has created more than just an event — it’s a gathering where people from all walks of life come together, connect, and celebrate something they love.
Eric says that for him, it’s about more than just showing off cars. “I was that kid who grew up getting to see special cars at shows and dreaming of one day having my own. I love getting to share all these cars with families, and maybe we’ll inspire a kid or two to chase their dreams.”
The camaraderie fostered by the car shows has been equally rewarding. “I’ve made a lot of friends doing this. It’s a great way to bring people together and just enjoy each other’s company while seeing some amazing cars.”
By encouraging people to share their passion for cars, Eric has created a community tradition that people look forward to. Horizon West Car Fest has also welcomed local vendors and hobbyists, making the event more than just a car show, but a celebration of the talent and creativity within the community.
As Eric continues to plan more events, he hopes others will be inspired to bring their own interests to life in the Horizon West. “Whatever it is, I encourage people to find a way to bring their passion to their community. There are so many things that can make a place just a little bit better.”
Eric is currently working on another Halloween-themed event planned for October 26, 2024 in Hamlin at the Cinepolis garage. Kids and adults alike are encouraged to come in costume because this "Frunk-or-Treat" event will keep the Halloween candy flowing with style!
Whether you’re a seasoned gearhead or just along for the ride, there’s something for everyone at Horizon West Car Fest!
