Up first in the line-up, we want to encourage you to show your school spirit with a family trip to one of the Wolverine Football games. Friday night lights are alive and well in Horizon West with home games every other week at Deputy Scott Pine Park. Windermere High School will host its homecoming game on October 11th, complete with a special halftime performance and the presentation of this year’s homecoming court. Kick-off is at 7pm with food available as well as Wolverine Spirit Wear!
Bringing us their very first full-scale performance on October 10th is the Horizon West Theater Company! This community-based company kicked off earlier this year with a series of classes, community nights and fund-raising to bring us The Music Man. This family-friendly classic will be held at The Cypress Center at Windermere Preparatory High School. Tickets are available for October 10th-12th so make sure to come out and support your local community theater!
Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas at Hamlin has something special now through November 18th. Pick up $8 tickets during “Magic Hours” every Monday through Thursday between 2-5pm. Cinepolis features all the latest box office hits along with their series of seasonal classics in their Handpicked Series. Dine in style with a full menu with everything from traditional movie favorites like candy and popcorn to fine dining options. Make sure to try one of their signature cocktails and ask about their membership program to earn points for every dollar you spend.
On October 20th, Bears Who Care will host its 2nd annual 5K and Fun Run Race at the town center of Hamlin. The race kicks off at 7am with an array of fun festivities to follow. Food, music, games, local vendors, giveaways and a Scholastic Book Fair will be on deck to support this local organization’s mission to provide teddy bears and books for kids in need. There’s something for everyone at this family festival. Register to race and enjoy a day celebrating with the community for a good cause!
Pick up your pumpkins and enjoy a fall festival on October 25th at Lifebridge Church in Lakeside Village! This annual tradition is a community favorite. Bounce houses, food trucks, a trunk or treat, cake walk and live music are just some of the things to look forward to. Pumpkins will arrive on October 13th and will be available every day through the season. Make sure to bring your cameras for family photo ops and enjoy one of the biggest fall events of the year!
Rounding out the season is Windermere High School’s 3rd Annual Truck or Treat on October 30th. Join in for a safe, family-friendly night of trick or treating complete with music and food trucks! This event is held at Windermere High School and treats are provided by student clubs, sports teams and local businesses. This is a great chance to support our young people’s hard work to bring it all together and take part in community traditions!
